Dr. Kimrey Janiece (Egan) Daniel, born August 29, 1961 to Betty Wood and Thomas Egan, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Dr. Daniel was born in San Angelo, Texas and graduated high school in 1979. Always a book worm, Dr. Daniel got her start in the medical field in the late 1980s as an LVN. During the 1990s, Janiece, as her family called her, studied continuously as she moved up through the ranks of nursing. She soon became an RN and spent time working in the ICU and the Emergency Room before she discovered flight nursing. She loved flying with the teams at Aerocare and Flight for Life in Lubbock, TX, and Starflight in Austin, TX, on fixed wing aircraft as well as many helicopters. In 2003, when her children graduated from high school, Dr. Daniel began medical school at UTMB, which she graduated in 2008 with highest honors, and followed with a residency in Emergency Medicine at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, Texas. During this time, Dr. Daniel served injured parties from a number of notable incidents, including the Fort Hood shooting of 2014. Following residency, Dr. Daniel served in emergent care facilities in a variety of places before finding her permanent home as an emergent care physician at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas. Everywhere she went, people noticed her commitment and her dedication as well as her talent for solving problems and saving lives.
In 1984, Janiece married the love of her life, her husband Brian Daniel, in San Angelo, TX. The couple celebrated 40 years of marriage last summer. Janiece will be fondly remembered as a loving mother to two children who describe her as a best friend, a role model, a voracious reader, and a loving supporter of educational and creative endeavors. Janiece took great pride in being a “GiGi” and was not shy about telling everyone she met about her granddaughters and how they were the light of her life.
Dr. Daniel is preceded in death by her father Tommy Egan. Dr. Daniel is dearly missed and survived by her husband Brian Daniel, son Dylan Daniel, daughter Lauren Etheredge, her two grandchildren Harper and Hadley Etheredge; as well as her mother Betty Jo Egan, her sister Trish Egan Flanary and her husband Gary Flanary, her sister Allyson Egan Rowe; and her nieces and nephews including Stephie, Samantha and her husband Jake and their children Easton and Sadie Jo, Sierra and her husband Dusty and their sons Bobby and Eli, Lisa, Jessica and Jacqueline.
