
Margaret Erlena Jolly was born in Franklin County in East Texas on January 4, 1916, to parents Clara and George McBrayer. After completing high school at Saltillo, Erlena received her BA and Masters at East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, Texas. She began her teaching career in Cooper and went on to teach at Mt. Vernon and Iraan. Erlena taught high school English.
Erlena was married to James Travis Jolly until his death in January 2009. When they retired they lived in Mt. Vernon and in San Angelo. There in the First United Methodist Church they found their guardian angels in Janis and Kent Amacher.
Ill health caught up with Erlena and she moved in December 2010 to Hendersonville, N.C., to be with her sister, Mary Hale, and her nephew and his wife, Bill and Sally Hale. Erlena passed away on September 26, 2012. She is gone to enjoy eternal peace with her Lord and Savior.
Other close relatives include Michael and Rita Hale of San Angelo.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Fairmount Cemetery w/ Rev. Nathaniel Hankins officiating.
