Mario was born to Pablo and Senonita Morales on October 3, 1943 in Menard, TX. He attended Menard High School and married Josefina "Josie" Garza on November 7, 1965. They went on to have 4 children - Mario Jr., Michael, Melinda, and Michelle.
Mario was self-employed and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He worked many seasonal jobs in agriculture throughout his lifetime and was a subcontractor for Schuster of Texas Inc. for more than 20 years. He worked in all parts of the Northwest region of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Mario enjoyed spending time tending to the sheep he raised on his ranch, he always looked forward to the traditional Sunday lunch with his family, and win or lose, he never missed a Cowboys game. But most of all, he loved spending time with his beloved wife, Josie, up until her passing in 2019. Mario was the foundation of his family who instilled a strong work ethic in his children and modeled family values of love, respect, ambition, integrity, and humility. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Mario is survived by his children; Jose Mario Morales Jr. and wife Francisca of Leander, TX; Melinda Torrez and husband Ray of San Angelo, TX; Michelle Perez and husband Mario of San Angelo, TX. Nine grandchildren, Michael, Courtney, Atalie, Desiree, Gregory, Raeleigh, Lauren, Leonidas, and Lucas. Great-granddaughter, Blake Henry.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josie Morales, son, Michael Morales, parents, Pablo and Senonita Morales; brothers, Amadeo Morales, Humberto Morales, Robert Morales; sister, Dora Sepeda.
A rosary will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 7 PM in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Monday, September 20, 2021 at St Mary's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Morales, Gregory Aguilar, Robert Morales, Jr., Amadeo Morales, Ray Morales, Jr., and Joe Ben Garza. Honorary pallbearers- Roy Morales, Ray Morales, Junior Morales, Hector Sepeda, Alan Morales, and Richard Hernandez.
