Marshall Lee Talley, our beloved brother, uncle and friend, went to his heavenly home Monday morning, July 2, 2012, at the age of 80. He was born Sept. 4, 1931, in San Angelo, Texas, to Hubert Marshall Talley and Ruby Etta Talley. He was the first of three children born of this union. Although he suffered from cerebral palsy from birth, he never let it hinder his ability to live life. He rode his three-wheeled bike from his home to work each day for several years, approximately two miles each way. He had many occupations in his life, from raising parakeets, running a golf supply store to running a second-hand store. As a faithful Christian, he attended worship services at Harvest Baptist Church until his health declined to the point that he was no longer able. Marshall loved people and even through all his pain and suffering, he always had a smile on his face. He never met a stranger and we know he's in heaven making new friends and reuniting with old friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; and two brothers?in-law, Don Stewart and Richard Kent. He is survived by both of his sisters, Mary Talley Stewart of San Angelo and Gloria Talley Kent of Eldorado. And although he never married and had children of his own, he loved his nephews, nieces and great-nephews and nieces as his own children, Dale Stewart (Bobbie), Larry (Kelly) Stewart, Brian (Karen) Stewart and Michael Kent; and two nieces, Paula Stewart Renfro (Lee) and Michele Kent McCants (Bill). There will be a visitation from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Johnson's Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Harvest Baptist Church with burial following in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. A special thanks to Dr. Ty Hughston for his special care of Marshall all of these years, as well as to Deborah Bitner, Janice Henley and Vickie Modkins of Nurses Unlimited and to Odyssey Hospice for their tender loving care. Memorials may be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center; Meals For The Elderly; or Harvest Baptist Church.
