Marvin was born on June 7, 1946 in Hugoton, Kansas to Russell and Lois Mitchell.
He married the love of his life, Betty, on November 9, 1968. Marvin and Betty blessed the world with their love for 47 years.
Marvin led a full life serving as an Army Medic from 1964 to 1967, and working in the oil field. He handled everything the oil industry threw at him starting as a deck hand. He worked as a tool pusher, a driller, and pumped for the last 35 years.
Marvin, when not hard at work, was a dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He loved spending time in the outdoors with his family. Joy could not hide from him when he took the helm of his boat, or when he hooked into a school of fish. He also enjoyed taking his chances at the casino.
Marvin is proceeded in death by both his parents, his wife Betty, grandson Josh, brothers Gary Mitchell, Dallas Mitchell (wife Joyce Mitchell) and Russell D. Mitchell.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Mitchell, granddaughter Jacy & J.L. Mankin and their three children Kenna, Landon and Wyatt, granddaughter Bethany Hardison, sisters Kathy & Jimmy Crozier of Eldorado, Oklahoma, Lois Mitchell, Deloris Mitchell and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Marvin's life will be held on Thursday, December 23rd at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake, Texas. The service, officiated by Scott Myers, will be held at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers are J.L. Mankin, Tony Avalos, Kade Mitchell, Austin Mitchell, Rocky Thompson, Terry Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Leon Stice, Kenneth Venable, JR Caldwell, Jimmy Crozier and Landon Mankin.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 22nd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas.
