He was born on November 17, 1947 in Plainview, Texas to George T. and Augustina F. Lopez. Mike attended Reagan County High School. He was drafted to serve our country as a soldier in the United States Army from 1968-1969. Upon his return, Mike began working as a Rig Operator in Big Lake, Texas. He later worked as an Oil Field Consultant for 46 years until his retirement.
Mike had a spirited love for life—and a known appreciation for good tequila. But above all, he will be remembered for the unconditional love he had for his five children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the true center of his world. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, strength, and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Michael was preceded in passing by his parents, Augustina Flores and George Tarin Lopez; son, Christopher Lopez; and sister, Dora Black.
Left to cherish Mike's memory are his children, Dwayne Lopez (Shonna), Charity Lopez, Chasity Badgett (Cody), and Scarlett Morton (Derek); fur-child, Snowball; sisters, Isabel De La Cruz, Maria Lopez, Annabel Castillo (Concepcion), and Louisa Narvaez. Mike also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to cherish his legacy.
