Nan did her share as a member of the greatest generation by working as a Rosie Riveter in The War and serving as a WAC doing airplane maintenance. In her later years she worked in the schools in San Angelo.
Mom married John C. Weiss in Warrenton, Missouri, the 16th of Aug. 1941. They were married 46 years until the death of her husband in 1987. Of this marriage, three Baby Boomer sons were born: Karl L. of Tucson, AZ, Stefan R. of San Angelo and Konrad Norman of Abilene.
During and after the war, John and Norma spent many years traveling with the military in Europe, North Africa and the United States. She has called San Angelo home for 54 years.
Norma was a generous person who liked to go and do. She helped support the family as her husband went back to school and attained a master’s degree. In 1990, at the age of 67, Mom helped start an air-conditioning/fireplace company and worked there until there were more phone lines than she could handle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and a great-granddaughter, Carley Faith. She is survived by her three sons and their wives; Lea, Kim and Janice; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandkids. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
