Oscar Arrieta

Oscar was born to Juan Manuel and Josefa Vela on March 26, 1928 in Laredo, Texas. He served two years in the U.S. Army from Sept. 16, 1952 to Sept. 16, 1954, achieved the rank of Corporal/E-4, and was honorably discharged. Oscar married Herminia Salinas on Oct. 18, 1953 in Marfa, Texas.

Oscar worked for Armour Packing Co. in Omaha, Nebraska and in San Angelo, Texas. He also worked for Western Towers and Sunset Mall in San Angelo. He has been a member of Holy Angels Church since 1968.

Oscar is preceded in death by his wife Herminia Arrieta, his parents Juan and Josefa, and his four brothers: Octaviano, Juan, Jose and Domingo. He is survived by his four children: Mary E. Henrickson (Shawne), Oscar R. Arrieta (Carol Ann), Richard A. Arrieta and Angeline D. Arrieta; eight grandchildren: Christopher W. and Simon L. Henrickson, Natalie A. and Michele L. Arrieta, Bryan J. and Brandi R. Sablan and Sarah N. and Oscar A. Arrieta; two great-grandchildren: Bryce J. Henrickson and Aubree J. Sablan. Oscar was proud of all his grand and great-grandchildren.

Rosary service will be at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at Holy Angels Church. There will be no graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Christopher and Simon Henrickson, Bryan Sablan and Oscar Arrieta.

The family wants to extend thanks to Odyssey Hospice, Outreach Health Services and IntegraCare for all of their care to our father.
