

Ronald W. Bell, 69, died on Sunday, June 7, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 3 S. Randolph Street, with inurnment to follow in the church courtyard columbarium. Fr. Jarod Houze will officiate. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Ron was born 3 September 1945 in La Porte, Indiana to Wayne Earl Bell and Doris Eileen (Mohr) Bell, and had been a resident of San Angelo since 1984 following his retirement from the U.S. Army.
A Retired Army Veteran, he had served one tour in Viet Nam. He had worked in the Security Department of Shannon Hospital and as a facility manager for Bank of the West/Boatmen’s Bank. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, having served on the Vestry.
He was a Life Member of the American Legion, Post 752 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Post 815 in San Angelo. He held American Legion Department (State)level offices including: 21st District Commander 1995–1997; 4th Division Commander 2002-2003; Department Convention City Commission 2003-2006; Department Membership and Organization Commission 2007-201(6), Chairman 2010; National Legislative Council 2004-2010; and National Homeland Security Council 2004-2010.
Survivors include his wife Mavis Clarkson Bell of San Angelo; a son, Steven W. Bell and daughter-in-law Jody and grandsons Adrian Keith Bell and Ryan Matthew Bell, and granddaughter Alyssa Brianne Bell of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Tamara K. Hill and son-in-law Ronald Hill and grandson Dakota James Stolz of Sierra Vista, Arizona; a brother David Allen Bell of La Porte, Indiana; a sister Penny Sue Jones and brother-in-law Roger Jones; a nephew Bradley Jones and wife Jenna; along with many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Doris (Mohr) Bell, and sister-in-law Janet Sue Bell.
