Rondyl Christine Brewer

Rondyl Christine Brewer passed from this life on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at the age of 87. Now with her Lord and Savior she's reunited with the man she spent 70 years of her life alongside. She was born on June 7, 1924, in San Angelo to Joseph Lee Danford and Jessie Griffin Danford. She grew up and lived almost her entire life in San Angelo. She was a born-again Christian and a member of Belmore Baptist Church. She was a homemaker by choice. As a member of the San Angelo Red Chicks, she played womens fast-pitch softball for many years and amateur womens basketball for San Angelo's Nathan's Jewelry sponsored team when those sports were in their early stages for women. She was very good at both and was extremely gratified at the upsurge of womens sports that girls and women enjoy today. Rondyl was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara; one granddaughter, Christenetta; and by her husband, Robby D. Brewer. Mama and Daddy dated for two years before they married on June 21, 1941. They were married almost 69 years before his death. During their lives together they raised their children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was "Ronnie" to her multitude of friends, but, more importantly she was "Honey", Mama and Nana to her family. Rondyl is survived by one daughter, Andra Jo and her husband Allen R. Broadway of San Angelo; and one son, Robby B. (Bankie) Brewer, also of San Angelo. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Angela, Robin, Renee, Teri Jo, Robby B. Jr.(BJ), Jordan and Jessica; 11 great-grandchildren, James, Cody, Kyle, Chelsea, Donovan, Tesa, Dean, Micaela, K'Lynn and Abigail. She also leaves one great-greatgranddaughter, Kaden. She will be missed by cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. Rondyl was very active in PTA, the Rebekkahs, the International Lions/Lionesses Clubs and the Good Sams. She was also a Sunday school teacher for children. She and Daddy lived modestly, but, comfortably. They were never tycoons, but, they were rich in the lives of people. The family would like to thank Dr. Johnny French, Dr. Taylor, Dr. Blanc, Dr. Hardewicke, Diane Alford, the staffs at Community Hospital and Regency House and the kind people from Med-Way and Hospice of San Angelo for all their care and support. There will be open viewing at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Belmore Baptist Church with burial service in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
