She was born on February 25, 1934 in El Paso, Texas to her birth parent Margaret Wright. She was the adopted daughter of Ferdinand and Marie Bucholz, but spent most of her childhood in a Catholic orphanage. Rose attended school in San Antonio before beginning her career in the service industry. She worked as a clerk, bookkeeper, and as a dispatcher for the San Antonio Police Department. Out of all the positions she held, she spent the most time working for the telephone company.
Rose was married to William Walker from 1952 to 1957 and had two children; Marsha Gale and Nancy Ann. Rose later married Jack Martine and had one daughter, Roxanna Martine. Rose was a proud member of Concho Valley Quilt Guild and had a passion for quilting, gardening, reading, and music. She will always be remembered for her beautiful quilts.
She was preceded in death by her biological parents, adoptive parents, daughter Marsha, husband Jack Martine, and son-in-law Joey Esters.
Rose is survived by her daughters Roxanna Martine, and Nancy Ann (and family); granddaughters Anna Martine and Jada Esters; and great-grandchild Nalani Haro.
A memorial service will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home on Saturday, December 19 at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the Martine family asks that you make a memorial donation in Rose’s name to Critter Shack Animal Shelter. The family would also like to thank Kindred Hospice and the neighbors on A & M Circle.
