

Sarah J. “Sally” Grafa, devoted wife, mother and pet lover, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the age of 83. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in the chapel of First Baptist Church of San Angelo.
Sally was born on June 29, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts to Sarah and Harold Alexander Jardine. She graduated in 1945 from Thayer Academy and the School of Practical Arts in Braintree, Massachusetts and in 1947 graduated from the Academie Moderne in Boston, Massachusetts. On February 26, 1949 Sally married Jack Grafa in Cohasset, Massachusetts. She served as President of the San Angelo A&M Mother’s Club, President of the Texas Sheep & Goat Raisers’ Auxiliary, and was instrumental in establishing the Symphony Belle program in San Angelo.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Harold Alexander Jardine; her twin sister, Betty Johnston; her husband Jack Grafa; and her grandson, Brandon Grafa.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Stotts of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Dale McDonald of San Angelo; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Nancy Grafa of San Angelo; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Libby Grafa of San Angelo; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Bobby Sam McDonald of College Station. Sally is also survived by nine grandchildren, Julie Reese and husband Sam, Kimberly Hanks and husband Jeren, Bryan Grafa, Colby Grafa, Kyle Grafa, Sarah Grafa, Amanda Bridwell, Rachel McGaffin, and Emily Vanderslice.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Silvia Sanchez and her family for taking exceptional care of Sally for the past six years. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Ty Hughston for his support during this time.
