Selia Garcia Cardenas

From the loving arms of her family to the sweet embrace of our heavenly father Selia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. She had 90 marvelous years filled with love and compassion for both her family and friends. She was born in San Angelo, Texas on February 22, 1927 to her parents Carmen and Matilde Garcia who preceded her in death. She was married to Juan R. Cardenas on November 7, 1947 and spent 71 years together until her passing. Selia was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had a passion for cooking and taking care of her family. She was survived by her sons, Sammy Cardenas and wife Rose, Pete Cardenas and wife Lydia; her grandchildren, Pete Cardenas Jr., JD Cardenas, Jennifer Cardenas, Sammy Cardenas Jr.; her great grandchildren, PJ, Jasmin, Amber, Angelina, JD Jr., Thaliah, Isbella Cardenas. She also leaves to cherish her memories her sisters, Marry Torres of Chicago, IL and Hortencia Ledezma of San Angelo, Texas as well as a favorite niece Lisa Carrasco of Mesquite, Texas. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Joe and Reyas; her sisters; Lupe, Juanna, Angelia, and Maltide. Visitation and Rosary Service will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 6:00 -9:00PM with the Rosary Service starting at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday February 5, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial immediately following in Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special word of appreciation to the St. Gabriel's Hospice Staff, Rene, Jennifer, Tommy, and Kari specifically for the loving and compassionated service giving to our beloved Selia. We will forever be grateful to you all!
