A celebration of Sheri’s life is at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Richardson of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Sheri was born June 14, 1947 to Emil Ripple and Dolores Jean Ripple in Graham, Texas. At the age of five, Sheri moved with her family to San Angelo. She graduated from Central High School Class of 1965. Sheri met and married the love of her life, John H. Young, and they enjoyed 17 wonderful years together.
Sheri was beautiful inside and out. She had baby blue eyes and a heart of gold. Her laugh was contagious, and she never met a stranger. She was very compassionate and thought of others before herself. She had a green thumb and could make any house plant grow. She loved animals, especially her beloved poodle, “Precious", whom she referred to as “Mama’s Baby.” She was a phenomenal cook and loved to eat anything sweet. Sheri loved to thrift shop and could never pass up a garage sale. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping with her family. She loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her church family at Immanuel Baptist Church.
She leaves behind her husband, John, who gave her the best and most loving care; her children: Shawn Bishop (China, Maine), Michael Hoelscher (Seadrift, Texas), Chris (Kim) Hoelscher (Rio Rancho, New Mexico), Mark (Jennifer) Young and Holly K. Young (San Angelo); her grand-girls: Morgan and Peyton Bishop, Samantha and Danielle Hoelscher, and Merrick, Ensley, and Brynlee Young; mother-in-law Doris Young-Pool; nephew Chris Ripple and nieces Tammy Ripple and Amber Price; and special friends Bobby Young and Paula Shelton.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Jean Ripple; step-father Weldon Hoelscher; brother Terry Ripple; her dearest friend, Dorothy Faye Young, and her beloved dog, Precious.
The family extends their outpouring of gratitude to the staff at Hospice of San Angelo, especially Pam Murphy and Molly Riley, for their care, support, love, and prayers through the last months of Sheri’s life.
“May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind always be at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and may rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.”
