Shirley Elizabeth Talley Childress passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, in a nursing home in Houston, Texas. Shirley was born Sept. 30, 1916, in Christoval, Texas. She graduated from Christoval High School. Shirley met the love of her life, Nolan Lee Childress, and they were married November 1937, and were married for 61 years until Nolan passed in 1999. A visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Johnson's Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Shirley is survived by a son, William H. "Bill" Childress and wife Claudia of Granbury, Texas; son Jimmy Lee Childress and Karen Brasher of Mansfield, Texas; daughter Dianne Vandermark and husband Jim of Katy, Texas; son Timothy Troy Childress and wife Linda of East Hartford, Conn.; eight grandsons; four granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
