Socorro A. Garcia, 91, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2013 in San Angelo. The Rosary will be 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 15, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home chapel. The Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Claudio Sanchez. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Socorro was born November 9, 1921 in Poteet, Texas to Isabel and Elena Alcala. She married John Z. Garcia in 1939 in San Angelo, Texas and they spent 40 beautiful years together. Socorro was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who devoted her life to her family and friends. She was the true essence of a “Mom” and was always there for everyone who needed her. Socorro will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Z. Garcia, one daughter Cecelia G. Sanchez, her grandson, Sammy Sanchez, granddaughter, Myra Sue Deanda, her great grandson Brian Ray Garcia, Jr., four brothers, Pete Alcala, Troy Alcala, Victor Reyes, and Isabel Alcala, Jr. and one sister, Marcelina Alcala. Socorro is survived by her loving family, children, Amelia Rodriguez and her husband Joe, of San Angelo, Johnnie Segura and her husband Robert, of San Angelo and Dora Sue Mediano and her husband Leo, of San Angelo; her Grandchildren, Michael Rodriguez, Sandra Velez, Abby Sanchez, Donna Delgado, Brian Ray Garcia, Sr., Robby Segura, Becky Segura, Kristine Martinez, Laurie Sanchez, Lisa Ramos, Jeremiah Mediano and Jacob Mediano; 30 Great Grandchildren; and numerous other great great grandchildren; one brother, Fred G. Reyes and his wife Alicia, of San Angelo; numerous nieces and nephews and her very special dog, “Perrita.” Pallbearers for the service will be Jeremiah Mediano, Jacob Mediano, Brian Ray Garcia, Sr., Michael Joe Rodriguez, Mark Martinez and Angel Martinez.
