

Mr. Stanley F. Hejl, age 89, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 and has gone to rejoice with the angels where he will rejoin his wife, Betty, of 58 years. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM, Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Johnson’s Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 1 PM at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Stanley was a faithful servant of the Lord. His generosity and love for family, God, and country ran strong in him. He put his two daughters and three grandchildren through school, three of which received master’s degrees. He loved all sports and could be found at a local game somewhere on most days. He was a member of the ASU Booster Club. Stanley delivered meals on wheels and gave to people in need without hesitation, going as far as taking on extra jobs in the military service in order to send more money home to help his mother and father.
Stanley served honorably from 1951-1953 in the Korean War as a corporal and platoon leader. He received honors for volunteering to retrieve dead and dying soldiers from an active battle field. He received his GED in 1959. Stanley worked at GTE for 30 years, 13 of which were at Goodfellow Air Force Base, where he received a letter of recognition from the U.S. Air Force for installing the first radio system.
Stanley is preceded in death by his parents; Jim an Annie Hejl, his siblings; Sadie Havlak, Annie Wanoreck, Elsie Moeller, Ruby Bryant, Betty Holubec Bubenik and Jerry Hejl. He is survived by his two daughters; Renee Taylor and husband Steve of Ozona, Texas and Terry Curlee and husband Dale of Long Beach, Mississippi, three grandchildren; Jarryd Taylor and wife Laura of Ozona, Texas, Scarlett Ellis and husband Brandon of Andrews, Texas, and Chase Curlee and wife Allison of Long Beach, Mississippi, three great grandchildren; Jace and Jones Taylor of Ozona, Texas and Kaycie Ellis of Andrews, Texas, four siblings; Lorene Snodgrass, Dorthy Harmon, Maryann Harmon and Ervin Hejl, all of San Angelo, Texas.
