Ted was born in San Angelo on February 9, 1943, the son of Bernice and C. E. (Red) Covington. He was graduated from Central High School and attended Texas Tech. For nearly thirty years, he sold trucks and cars all over West Texas for Jim Bass Ford.
Ted’s one true passion was golf and he was an avid student of the game! He began playing at a young age and through the years won many tournaments. The Rangers and Cowboys were his favorite sports teams even when their seasons were less than spectacular. He enjoyed hunting dove and quail, fishing, and playing dominos and gin rummy with his buddies. He was also an excellent cook!
Ted is survived by his wife, Sandy; his sister Jane Drake; his nieces Star Stovall and husband, Phillip, and Re Wortham; his nephews King Drake and wife, Evelyn, and Craig Henderson and wife, Jan; his step-daughter, Valerie Edwards and husband, Randall of Andrews, TX; his step-granddaughter, Charlotte Koors of San Angelo; step-grandson Quirt Edwards of Andrews, TX.; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Ted is also survived by many wonderful, long-time, close friends.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ann Henderson; his niece Diana Drake; and his brother-in-law Clifton K. (Spikey) Drake.
Ted was a good man at heart. May God bless him, R.I.P.
