Travis was born in Runge, Karnes County, Texas to Joseph Carl and Martha Emilie Raab.
After his high school graduation, Travis enrolled at the University of Texas, Austin and in 1949 earned MS degrees in Mechanical and Aerodynamic Engineering.
As a devout Christian, Travis was well versed in the teachings of the bible and endeavored to practice his faith in word and deed. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of San Angelo.
Travis is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ethylee, his wife Peggy, one son Philip Lee Smith, a granddaughter Travis Renee Smith, and a great-grandson Layton Lee Smith. He is survived by his son Rod Smith & wife Kay, daughter Janice Ann Smith, 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of friends.
A Celebration of Life and Visitation will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church of San Angelo, College Hills on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 am.
