

Wilma Ruth Massey Breen, age 90, died on March 10, 2015. She was born on November 8, 1924 in Eden, Texas to Bill and Lizzie Massey. The family moved to Eola, Texas in 1933 where she was raised on a farm and she graduated from Eola High School in 1942. She then worked at North American Aviation in Dallas where she met Lt. Robert H. (Bob) Breen while he was stationed at Camp Maxey in the US Army. She returned home in 1943 to attend Mrs. Carson's Business College while Bob was stationed in Europe during World War II. After finishing school she returned to Dallas to work for Atlantic Refining Company until Bob returned from Europe in November 1945. He then came to Texas from his home and returned with her to Massachusetts where
they married on February 9, 1946. They then returned to Texas where he worked for Santa Fe Trailways and she raised their first child, Wayne, born in August 1947. In 1949 Bob was recalled into the US Army and she traveled with him to his assignments. While in New Ulm, Germany they were blessed with a second son, David, in December 1954. While Bob was in the US Army they were assigned to many locations including Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Germany, Iowa, Texas, and two tours in California until he retired in 1965 and they returned to San Angelo. She was always a homemaker and worked as a volunteer in the Ceramic Shop at West Texas Boys Ranch from 1975 until 1991 and played golf when possible. She soon started quilting and made many quilts for family, friends, pediatric hospitals in San Angelo and San Antonio, CASA, WTRC, children at her church, Hunt for Heros, and the FLDS children separated from their parents. She was a long time member of Johnson Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents. Bill and Lizzie Massey, her beloved husband of 63 years Bob Breen, two brothers Harold Massey and Milton Massey, and two sisters Janice Kelly and Thelma Ellis, and in-laws Natalie Massey, Cecil Kelly, Mike Ellis, Johnny Buie, Bill McMillan, and Tommy Taylor. She is survived by sons Wayne Breen and David Breen (wife Malinda), and two grandchildren; Jonathan Breen (wife Bonnie) and Heather Breen; one brother Marvin Massey (wife Jean) and five sisters; Judy Buie, JoElla McMillian, Jean Millsap (husband Del Gene), June Strebeck (husband George), and Doris Taylor as well as sister-in-laws Donna Massey and Barbara Donohue. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Family visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Johnsons Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens next to her husband. Pallbearers will be her nephews, neighbors, and Church friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Johnson Street Church of Christ or Meals for the Elderly.
