
Adelina Martinez Gonzales, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2024, in Cypress, Texas. She was born on April 2, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, to her parents, Juanita Palacios and Simon R. Martinez.
Adelina's home was a haven of hospitality and known for being a great homemaker and an amazing cook. She poured her heart into every dish, creating not just meals but memories that would be treasured by all who had the pleasure of experiencing her home cooked meals.
Her commitment to nurturing others extended beyond her family. As a devoted member of St. John Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas, and Our Lady of Grace in Highland, Indiana, she dedicated her time and talents to serving the community. She found great purpose and satisfaction in volunteering at the convent, where she would cook and clean for the nuns, embodying the spirit of service that defined much of her life.
Adelina also was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary alongside her husband, John who was a member of the American Legion. She always looked forward to a night out with John during social events in support of the American Legion.
Adelina's loving nature was the cornerstone of her existence. Her unwavering support, her soothing presence, and her boundless love were the threads that wove the tapestry of her family's life. She was the heart of every gathering, the smile that brightened every room, and the gentle hand that guided her loved ones through life's many journeys. Her memory will be cherished and honored by all who had the privilege to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, John Patrick Louis Gonzales; their son, Jerry Gonzales; her siblings: Lily, Ofelia, Amelia, Sylvia, and Alfredo, and granddaughter Vanessa.
Adelina’s legacy lives on through her surviving sons, Michael Gonzales and his wife, Diana and David Gonzales and his wife, Elizabeth Kennedy; her cherished grandchildren: Monica Hernandez, Michael C. Gonzales, Daniel Gonzales, Tanya Gonzales, Melissa Moya, Jerry Gonzales, Robin Martinez, Rick Salazar, and Naomi Salazar who continue to carry the light of her love. Adelina was also blessed to see the growth of her great-grandchildren: Lucy, Trinity, Sean, Alexis, AJ, Liliann, Jerry, Justin, Gabriela, and Evalynn, who brought her immense joy in her later years.
