She was a very loved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Born to John and Florence Bechtold Rooney in Cape May, New Jersey, on June 21, 1903, she had a grand 100th celebration in June, 2003.
A stay at home mom and farmer's wife, she received her degree in education from Our Lady of the Lake University at age 67 and was an elementary teacher in Edgewood ISD.
A teacher in all phases of Christian Education, she was one of the first women to be ordained an Elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a charter member of Stone Oak Presbyterian.
Priorities she passed on to her family were God, Family, Patriotism and Education. As a child she had a paper route whose customers included Civil War Veterans, and as a young lady she worked at the Bethlehem Steel Co. when the Golden Gate Bridge was begun.
Starting in her teen years, and continuing through those of her daughters, she participated in many facets of Girl Scouting. Preceded her in death by her husband, Russell E. Weaver, Sr., their first-born, Agnes and Great-Granddaughter, Jordan Snead. She is survived by son, Russell E. Weaver, Jr. and his wife, Myretta of Fredericksburg, TX, with whom she resided the past 4 years; three daughters, Ruth Regenold of Johnson City, TN, Nancy Camp of San Antonio, TX, and Patsy Sharp of Tyler, TX; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Grandma Aggie loved her family and was referred to as Granny by a number of her grandchildren and their friends. Her greatest joy was having her family together. No one was a stranger to her and she lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed the game of baseball, loved cooking and eating, especially chocolate. She was very proud of being Irish! She will leave behind memories in many hearts of both family and friends.
Special thanks are offered to Dr. Cheryl Mueller, Christus Santa Rosa NW, 2nd floor and Hospice, and St. Luke's nursing Staff 2nd floor. The family requests no flowers, but memorials directed to Stone Oak Presbyterian Church, 20024 Crescent Oaks, San Antonio, TX 78258, Agnes Weaver Memorial, where an outdoor classroom setting will be developed in her memory.
