

He was a life resident of San Antonio, member of Temple Beth-El, and had a successful banking career from 1958 until 1991.
His grandfather, Louis Kaufman founded Northside Bank formerly Citizens State Bank.
Alan was president and chairman of the board of the bank, as was his father, Sam before him.
He was a member of the American Bankers Association, Texas Bankers Association, and the Texas Independent Bankers Association.
He was a 1947 graduate of TMI, attended Tulane University, and was a WW II veteran.
Alan was a descendant of a large well known San Antonio family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Sophie Kaufman; his parents, Sam Kaufman and Alice Plough; cousins, Louis Nelson, Jack Kaufman, Robert Kaufman, Gene Lewenthal, and Richard Buddy Kaufman. He is survived by Tom Kaufman, Louis Sonny Kaufman, Bill Kaufman, Karleen Kaufman Kusin of Dallas, Ann Kaufman Engel of Corpus Christi, Warren Kaufman, Louis Nelson, Jr., Corky Nelson, Richard Nelson, Katherine Nast of Corpus Christi, Lucille Levy of Dallas, Helen Bernstein of Oklahoma; and numerous other cousins.
Alan is also survived by his devoted friend, Russell Ybarbo and his wife, Nora.
