On November 14th, 2024, Alane L. Gomez joined her loving husband of 61 years, Tomas Gomez and beloved daughter Alena Gomez, as well as her parents Gertrude and Alvin Lubker in the kingdom of the Lord. She leaves behind two sisters, Ardie Hanak and Annette Fashing, her son, Leonard Gomez, her daughter-in-law, Michelle Gomez, her two grandchildren Heather and Thomas Gomez, and 9 nieces and nephews (Anita Kiska, Mary Turner, James, John, and Edward Fashing, Jessica Coulter, Denise, Chris, and Angie Hanak.)
Alane’s life was dedicated to her family, her faith, and especially her dogs. As a mother and grandmother, her love was evident in everything that she did for her children and grandchildren.
She had so many memorable stories that she would share with all who would listen. She was a gifted storyteller and one of the most resilient individuals, experiencing and overcoming so many adventures and challenges in her 84 years of life.
As a dedicated breeder and dog show judge of over 60 years, she touched the lives of so many people. She was a member of the Shoreline Shetland Sheepdog Club, the Alamo Area Shetland Sheepdog Club, the Bexar County Kennel Club, and most recently the Mission City Stewards Club. Her dedication to furthering the sheltie breed and sport of dog shows was her biggest accomplishment and the loss will be felt for many years to come. Her final piece of advice to any and all would be this: “I’ll tell you what my father told me, Don’t get old!” It is with great hope that when it comes your time, she’ll meet you at the gates, laughing, dancing and singing.
A visitation for Alane will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM.
