Alejandro Zambrano Cortez Sr. went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2019 at the age of 80 after a short illness. Alejandro (Alex or Jando to some family and friends) loved to play the guitar and sing. Prior years he had been a member of the bilingual choir at St. Leonards Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX. He did a stint in the Army and continued in the Texas State National Guard 49th Armor Division for about nine years. Proceeded in death by his parents Maria Zambrano Cortez and Felipe Cortez; his sister Ramona Cruz (✙ Alvaro); his daughter in law Margarita V. Cortez. Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years Irma H. Cortez; his sons Alejandro Jr. (Sally), Javier Sr. (Rachel), Daniel (Janie), David (Angie) and Javier Jr Cortez; Grandchildren, Bryan Sr. (Antoinette), Sarah, Alexis (Jojo Rios), Destiny, Gabriela, Phillip, Bianca, Clarisa (Paul Alden) Cortez and Victoria Arriola (Prissy); Great Grandchildren, Jeremiah, Bryan Jr., Ryan, Gianna and Ellieanna ; his brother, Alberto Cortez (Minerva); his sisters, Socorro Cortez Garza (✙Elias), Corina Zamarripa (✙ Jose), and Dora Villa (✙Espiridion); and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Trevino Funeral Home 2525 Palo Alto Rd San Antonio,TX 78211 on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 5pm-9pm, with a rosary at 7pm. Wednesday, January 23,2019 a mass of resurrection will he held at St. Leonards Catholic Church 8510 Zarzamora San Antonio,TX 78224 at 9:45 am with interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery 1535 Harry Wurzbach San Antonio,TX 78209
