Alex Mendez Jr.

Alex Mendez was born in San Antonio, Texas to Alex Sr. (Humphrey) & Nellie Mendez on March 16, 1956. He went to school at Thomas Jefferson High School and graduated with his diploma in 1975. He worked numerous jobs but made his career at Methodist Transplant & Specialty Hospital as a custodian until his retirement. Alex was an avid fisherman and enjoyed trips to Port Aransas and the Texas coast with his nephew Nick and his cousins. He enjoyed being an uncle to all the kids in our family and gave his unwavering love until the end of his life.

Alex is preceded in death by his father & mother, Alex Sr. & Nellie Mendez.

Alex is survived by his sister & brother in-law, Darnell & Jose Cervantes, his nephews & niece, Nicolas Vazquez, Christopher Cervantes & Natalie Cervantes, his aunt “Sarita” Davis, and his many cousins: Annie Ramirez, Michael Davis, Laura Davis, Catherine Dusenberry, Joseph & Louie Maldanado, Roger, David & Rueben Reyes & numerous others.

Rosary & Visitation will be Sunday, September 8th, 2024. The rosary service will start at 10am at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home at 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, Texas, 78238.

A memorial luncheon for Alex will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church at 950 Donaldson Avenue, San Antonio, TX. The luncheon will start at 1pm. All family and friends of Alex are welcome to join us for the rosary, visitation and luncheon.

The family of Alex wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital him & the staff at San Antonio Residence and Rehabilitation Center for providing care and comfort to him over the past year.
