

Alfredo C. Fuentes, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on December 10, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, to Ponciano and Virginia Fuentes. Alfredo's life was defined by an unwavering dedication to his family and service to his country and community.
He grew up with a strong sense of duty and a deep commitment to his community, values that would define his life’s work. After graduating from high school, Alfredo enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving honorably for 4 years, including a tour in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge, he obtained his associate’s degree in criminal justice. He embarked on a notable career in 1970 with the San Antonio Police Department, where he served with distinction as a Detective, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community he so diligently protected.
He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Dora R. Fuentes, with whom they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with joy, raising their children Fred Fuentes, Cynthia Alonzo, Denise Muñoz and Pamela Wise. He took immense pride in his role as a father, guiding and supporting his children. His legacy continued to flourish with every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Alfredo's passion for the outdoors was infectious, and he often found solace in simple pleasures. The tranquility of nature was a perfect complement to his love for the outdoors and moments spent under the vast Texas sky fishing and camping. These activities were more than hobbies. They were opportunities for him to spend quality time with his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime. From teaching them to fish at his favorite camping spot to cheering them on at school events. He was always in attendance.
Alfredo was always willing to lend a helping hand or share a word of advice. His wisdom and support left an undeniable mark on everyone he met. His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Alfredo C. Fuentes lived a life defined by love, honor, and a deep-rooted commitment to the well-being of others. We take comfort in the countless memories and the enduring impact he has left on our lives. His spirit will continue to inspire us, and his legacy will live on. Rest in peace, Alfredo C. Fuentes; your story is one of triumph, love, and an unwavering dedication to all that is good in this world.
Alfredo is survived by his loving wife, Dora R. Fuentes; his children Fred Fuentes (Bobbi), Cynthia Alonzo (David), Denise Muñoz (Eloy) and Pamela Wise (Rasheed); grandchildren Valerie, Victoria, Evan, Ciera, Sabrae, Natalia, Rayla, Matthew, Jada, Mariska, and Michael; and great grandchildren Lilyanna, Lorena, Mickie and Xzavier.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary West (located near Sea World).
