

Alfredo M. Perez, Jr., known as Al and Freddie, age 74, died peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2017 at his residence. He was surrounded by those he loved and whom loved him in return. Alfred was born to Alfredo G. and Helen (Moreno) Perez in San Antonio, TX where he attended Brackenridge High School and played the saxophone. Alfred joined the US Marine Corps Reserves in 1964, served honorably for 6 years and was recognized as an Expert Marksman. Alfred's love of music and the saxophone continued throughout life as he played with local bands including; Sunny Ace, The Royal Jesters and Gilbert and the Blue Notes. While a civil service employee at Kelly Air Force Base, Alfred met and married the love of his life, Priscilla. Alfred advanced in his career from machinist to technical engineer and was repeatedly recognized for his contributions until his retirement at age 56. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Alfred will always be remembered for his devotion to his family and his gentle demeanor. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carol Priscilla; son, Alfred Christopher; daughters, Denise Eloise and husband Javier Verastegui and Jennifer Patricia; three grandchildren, Clarissa Sophia, Caitlin Patricia and Ethan Christopher; honorary family members Michael Alan Jackson and Carolyn Eve Garza, whom Alfred loved as children of his own; brother, Johnnie Perez (wife Rachel); sisters, Maria Isabel Deleon (husband Steve) and Amelia Jane Perez along with numerous friends and extended family members who will carry his love and genuine kindness in their hearts. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his caregiver Derrick Penuelaz and the staff of Generations Hospice Care, Health Care and Visiting Practitioners for the compassionate, heartfelt and meticulous care they provided Alfred on a daily basis. The family will receive guests at the funeral home Monday, April 17, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Services will continue on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church with a 9:30 final viewing and a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection. Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North.
