

Alice G. Carrillo Cipriani, beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord on Friday, February 9, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 95. Her life was a testament to unwavering dedication, boundless compassion, and profound impact.
Alice was born on October 11, 1928, to Laura and Fausto P. Gutierrez in San Antonio, Texas. Growing up, she displayed a remarkable thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning that would shape her future endeavors. She became the first in her family to attend and graduate from college, earning her degree in Education from Our Lady of the Lake University.
Alice embarked on a distinguished career in education that spanned over three decades. She touched the lives of countless students as she journeyed from elementary to high school, leaving an indelible mark on each soul she encountered. As a teacher, Alice was not only a purveyor of academic wisdom but also a beacon of inspiration and guidance, as the Dean of Girls. She possessed a rare gift for instilling confidence, nurturing curiosity, and fostering a love for learning in her students. Her classrooms were vibrant spaces where creativity flourished, and minds were ignited with possibilities.
Beyond the school walls, Alice was dedicated at bridging the gap between the educational institution and the surrounding neighborhoods. She ended her career as the community liaison for SAISD Title I Program. She served as an active member of the Pan American League, which her mother was a founding member of, the San Antonio Area Teachers Retirement Association, the San Antonio Bar Association, Guadulupe Community Center, and was a board member of the George Gervin Community Center.
Alice's legacy of love for family, dedication to her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends, and church will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories, lessons, and achievements that will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; father of her daughters, Henry X. Carrillo; husband, Lawrence J. Cipriani; granddaughter, Kristen N. Murray; and siblings, Olga Trevino, Delia Prince, and Fausto Gutierrez, Jr.. Alice is survived by her daughters, Cynthia de la Garza (Frank), Carolyn Montgomery (Michael), Catherine Mohr (Matt), Claudia Hernandez (George), Cassandra Teel (Bryan). Nana loved all her grandchildren, F. Scott de la Garza (Lori), Mark X. de la Garza (Kristen), Nicholas de la Garza (Mary Beth), Kara Emerson (Anthony), Kimberly Montgomery, Matthew John Mohr Jr., Natalie Diane Mohr, Anthony Mario Hernandez, George Alex Hernandez, Annalicia Teel, David Carrillo Teel, Luke Teel, and Clarissa Teel. Big Nana adored her great-grandchildren, Aiden de la Garza, Luka de la Garza, Emilia de la Garza, Jonas X. de la Garza, Isla de la Garza, Ford de la Garza, Everly Emerson, and Jacob Murray. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Journey Home Hospice, especially, Richard, Christine, and Deshona for their outstanding care and love for our beloved mother.
The family will receive friends from 9:30AM to 10:00AM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 with a funeral rosary at 10:00AM followed by a funeral mass at 10:30AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 600 Oblate Dr, San Antonio, TX 78216.
Interment will follow in San Fernando II Cemetery.
