I just realized Alice has been gone for one year. We still miss her dearly and think of her often.

Alice has been a dear friend of mine for 10 years and I'm deeply saddened by her death. Her warm, welcoming smile and always positive approach to life were 2 of her many outstanding qualities. Our paths first crossed when I worked for the Texas Dental Association and she was the Executive Secretary of SADDS. We spent lots of time on the phone and in person and discovered many similarities in our lives. Our professional relationship ended when I left TDA in 2001, but our personal friendship continued to grow. We would meet in San Antonio or New Braunfels for lunch and have such a good time. I will miss Alice so much, but am so grateful for the privilege of knowing her and being counted as one of her friends. Her honesty, humor and accepting and compassionate nature are all qualities I greatly admire and respect. She is a special person and will always have a special place in my heart.

Alice shall be remembered as a real asset to the Dental community in San Antonio. She will be sorely missed by all of us who worked with her over the years. Dr. and Mrs John Cochran

When I lost my brother, Gary, sixteen years ago, Alice wrote me a very kind and compassionate note saying she knew how I felt because she had lost a brother, too. I have never forgotten her simple act of kindness. She was such a lady and I will never forget her. She is with her brother now.

My husband and I will dearly miss Alice. She has always been so dear to us both. Alice was a saving grace during my Alliance Presidency and has always been there for whatever needed to be done. What joy she brought to the Society, Alliance, and all those around her.

It is with a heavy heart I received this news this morning about Alice?s passing. 
I was overwhelmed and shocked, and that in itself is a tribute to the way Alice has lead her life. Although I knew she was fighting this terrible disease, she was always such a trooper in her daily work that if she did not tell you about her affliction you might not know. It was such a pleasure when I would come to the office and while I was working we would talk about her family she loved so much. We would share stories about how our families touched our hearts. She would always ask about my daughter who has diabetes and how she was doing. When I would come she would not talk much about her own problems she was suffering but ask about my own. She was and is an inspiration to me and my family and will I will always remember her as a friend and co-worker whom I always looked forward to coming to see. 
I will miss her smile, but never forget her spirit.

My mother and I had the honor of meeting Alice through her daughter Tera. Alice was always positive and a joy to be around, regardless of how she was feeling. She was also an inspiration for my mother, who was also diagnosed with cancer. I know she touched many lives. I am blessed that I had the opportunity to know her. In the Gower family, the cousins seemed to be born in "groups". The year of my birth also included the births of Alice Gower and Judy Murrell. The three of us had many happy hours of play, and companionship as we grew older, when the entire family got together. The unique thing about Alice was that she could color with either hand; so she was the perfect playmate for sharing a color book. I still have vivid memories of those happy times with Alice and Judy. Alice was my cousin. She was a little bit older than me. When I was little I thought she had the most beautiful eyes I'd ever seen. I alway's loved the shape of them. So now, when I think of her I will alway's remember those beautiful eyes and the warm smile that she alway's had. Alice was a sweet and loving person. We will never understand why God feels like we shouldn't have her with us. But, we can all hope she is at peace and free of pain with her wonderful brother in heaven.

We are so sad about Alice's death. She was a wonderful person. We are sorry we cannot attend her services but you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Alice was a friend and hard worker I respected.She was supportive and helpfull and always willing to volunteer. I will miss her.

Alice was such a wonderful, sweet woman. I worked with her through the Texas Dental Association. When I first came on board with the TDA she was so welcoming and friendly. We spent many hours together in the TDA office at our meeting every year in San Antonio. She certainly made the experience enjoyable even though she wasn't always feeling her best. We will all miss her dearly.

I am so sorry to hear that Alice has passed. I came to know her when I worked the front desk at my father's office, due to his involvement with SADDS. Alice was one of the sweetest people I have ever had the good fortune to have known. She will be missed.
