He is survived by his children, Jane Vollmer Vernon, Sr.; Judy Camarigg Dean; Allan Mitchell, Jr. Maureen; and then, A. Wayne Mitchell; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren including, Julia, who will arrive in December; one great-great grandchild; cousin, Sam G. Smith - Wednesday lunch partner and other cousins; devoted care giver, Barbara Jeffries; and his Incarnate Word Family-Sister and residents at Incarnate Word Retirement Community.
Mr. Mitchell was one of two remaining graduates of the 1928 Class of St. Mary's Academy now Central Catholic High School.
In 2003, he was honored at the 75th Class Reunion.
Allan was a WWII veteran that served in the Navy.
He was a long time member of St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church and helped the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
He was a charter and life time member of the Turner Club.
Other memberships include Hermann Sons and the Old Timers' Baseball Association.
He was one of the best oldest athletes in San Antonio - excelling in golfing, bowling, basketball and baseball.
Allan was State Left Handed Golf Champion four times.
