

Lewin was born and raised in Quanah, Texas. He was raised by his widowed mother, Ione Plunkett. Lewin was an Eagle Scout and participated in the debate and golf teams in high school. He was admitted to the University of Texas in 1960 and graduated in 1965 with a B.A & J.D. degrees. Lewin was President of the UT Young Republicans.
In July 1965 Lewin married Pamela Calk and they remained married until Pamela’s death in 2012. They had two children, David and Jennifer. In 2014, Lewin married Canda Turner and they remained together till the end.
Lewin moved to San Antonio after graduation and began the practice of law with the firm of Wiley, Thornton & Plumb. He then practiced with the firm Plunkett, Gibson & Allen for decades. Lewin was active in the legal profession, he was president of the San Antonio chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, State Chairman of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He served on numerous committees of the State Bar of Texas. He always encouraged firm attorneys to serve the profession in volunteer capacities. He frequently lectured on legal topics for State Bar educational seminars.
While Lewin was a formidable advocate, he was best known for his even temperament and his commitment to the ethical practice of law. He could be depended on to “do the right thing”. He earned the respect of lawyers and judges throughout Texas.
Lewin had a passion for Christ, he served in ministries across many churches and denominations and had a depth of biblical knowledge that he gently shared with everyone he encountered.
Lewin had a love of cooking. He was particularly fond of his sauces. He enjoyed entertaining and visiting with friends. Travel, hunting and fishing were special treats. He was a planner and enjoyed organizing his family’s expeditions.
His Irish ancestry was a source of pride to Lewin. He visited Ireland several times.
He is predeceased by his father, Lewin Plunkett, Jr., his mother, Ione Plunkett, and wife, Pamela Plunkett, children, Cory Boldt Hutt and Triple Fuhrmann.
He is survived by his wife, Canda Plunkett; sister, Mary Catherine Logan; daughter, Jennifer Barthold (Willie); son, David Plunkett (Celeste); daughter, Lisa Nash (Elliot), daughter-in-law, Joy Fuhrmann; son-in-law, Fred Hutt; grandchildren, Mykayla Pratorius (Aaron), Kendall and Jensen Barthold, Lucy, Liam and Ledger Plunkett, Elliot, Jr., Josie, and Holly Nash, Hunter and Samantha Boldt, Jillian Moon (James), Jenna Belle and Carly Fuhrmann. Many nieces and nephews. This year they welcomed two beautiful great grandchildren, Trip and Everlyn.

Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Gibson, Nik Mimari, Bobby Allen, Ronald Hornberger, Steve Spence, Judge John Specia, Judge Fred Shannon, Mark Calk, Elliot Nash, Jr., Fred Hutt and Robert Swatner.
