

He honorably served in the USAF for almost 23 years, with tours of duty in the Korean and Vietnam War. Alonzo received several Commendation Medals for his patriotic service to his country.
He then proudly served his community receiving the Hidalgo de Bexar de San Antonio by the Bexar County Commissioner's Court; the highest award issued by Bexar County.
Alonzo also received certificates of appreciation for serving as Chairman of the Southwest Clinic Board on SW 36th St. and Robert B. Green Clinic, by the University of Texas Health System. He actively continued serving his local community under various political campaigns within the City of San Antonio and Bexar County.
Mr. Rangel will continue to be loved and remembered by over 150 family members.
He is preceded in death by two sons and three siblings.
He is survived by his loving and loyal wife, Maria Jesus Rangel; children, Alejandro A. Rangel (Alexandra), Alvaro A. Rangel (Velma), Aaron A. Rangel, Eva A. Rangel, Francisco C. Rangel, Yolanda E. Gutierrez (Joseph), Rosa Z. Chavez, Rebecca R. Gonzalez; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Leonila R. Solis (Steven) and Jose J. Rangel.
