

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Alonzo Navarro Rendon Jr. announces his passing on Tuesday October 14, 2025 at the age of 77. A devoted husband, loving father, proud veteran, and man of faith, Alonzo leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, and unwavering love.
Alonzo was born to Alonzo and Maria De Jesus Rendon, and was preceded in death by them, as well as his brother Hector Rendon and sister Felipa Rendon. He is survived by his beloved wife Graciela Rendon, with whom he shared many years of marriage and memories. He raised a beautiful family: Minerva Rendon Lee (Christopher), Antonio Rendon (Jackie), Maria de Jesus Dixon (Brian), and Juan Rendon. He is also survived by his brother Edelmiro Rendon (Guadalupe), several siblings, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Alonzo proudly served his country as a Vietnam War veteran and dedicated 30 years of honorable service in the National Guard. After his military service, he continued serving his community and retired in 2015 from the City of Laredo Public Works Department, where he was known for his reliability, work ethic, and commitment to helping others.
Outside of work and service, Alonzo found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs, rarely missing a game. He also enjoyed visits to the gun range, and his love for dancing brought energy and joy to any gathering. He was a proud and devoted Catholic, and his faith was a guiding force throughout his life.
Alonzo will be remembered most for his military service, his unshakeable faith, and his selfless desire to be of service to others. His kindness, strength, and sense of duty touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and in the community he so faithfully served.
A visitation for Alonzo will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A committal service will occur Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
