Alta Lyonette Evans was born January 4, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas to Lyon Holmes King and Eleanor Jane King. She graduated from MacArthur High School in 1964 with her sister, Jalane Fest, where they were known as the King Twins even though their birthdays were 11 1/2 months apart in the same year.
Lyonette met Brian Evans of Lakehills, Texas, her husband of almost 51 years on Christmas Eve when she was only 15 years old. The two dated and married out of high school in 1964. They had two children, Patricia Beasley, of San Antonio, and CW4(Ret) Douglas Evans of Killeen, Texas. Their marriage was a perfect example of what God wants for us in marriage. Brian and Lyonette loved and supported each other in all things.
Lyonette and her family were charter members of Bulverde United Methodist Church and were present at the very first service at Singing Hills Ranch in Spring Branch, Texas, where Lyonette taught Sunday School.
Lyonette was also active as a Brownie/Girl Scout/Cub Scout leader and a band and choir mom for the Smithson Valley Music Department. She was a mom to them all, and they all loved her very much.
Lyonette had an infectious smile. She always found the positive things in people and always had a kind word for anyone who needed it. Many people found comfort in her positive upbeat personality. She never met a stranger and was always generous with her time if you needed to talk.
Lyonette returned to the workforce in 1976 selling tile and wallpaper at Monarch Tile, continuing her career at Paper P'zaz, KBK Interiors, Alamo Paint and Wallpaper and Wallpapers To Go. Lyonette's customers were more than clients; they became her friends as she shared stories of her family and asked others about their families. Lyonette had a reputation in the wallpaper industry for being able to recall the book, page number and pattern number of almost any wallpaper currently being sold or discontinued. She had an eye for color, texture and design. She enjoyed her work as much as she enjoyed being friends with her co-workers and clients.
After Lyonette retired she enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time with her husband and family.
