Alton B. Crusius, Jr.

Alton Barnes Crusius Jr., 86, passed away on August 4, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Alton was born in San Antonio, TX, to Alton Barnes Crusius Sr. and Mildred Grace Hoch, eventually becoming an older brother to his sister, Mildred Jean. Alton graduated from Southwest High School and attended Texas Lutheran College for two years. Alton’s passions included farming, fishing, baseball, and raising every dog that walked up to his doorstep.

Alton married his wife Kathi Baker in 1965, having just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in July. They were blessed with two children: Keith Allen and Deanna Lynn. After many decades of farming, Alton and Kathi would retire and move to Rockport in 2010, where Alton could fish whenever he desired.

Alton is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Millie, and brother-in-law Bill Kretzmeier. Alton is survived by his wife Kathi, their two children: Keith & wife Julia, Deanna Crusius ( Paul) and four grandchildren: Kevin, Kyle & Clayton Crusius and Carter Reese. He will be remembered by his hardworking nature, his motivation to fix anything that he could, his outgoing personality, his never-ending collection of tools, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed something fixed or built.

Alton’s funeral services will be held at Porter Loring in San Antonio. A viewing will take place on Sunday, August 11, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The funeral ceremony will take place on Monday, August 12, at 11am, with a processional to San Fernando III Cemetery following it.
