Amelia R. Gomez,92, cherished Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, has joined our Lord in all her beauty and glory on May 25, 2023. She was born in Uvalde, TX on April 27, 1931. She was the loving daughter to Eliza Trevino and Isabel Reyes. She was the youngest of two children. She absolutely loved Jesus. She read the Bible and would pray for her family and friends, daily.
Amelia grew up with love and joy with family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a giving person who supported multiple charities who asked for her support.
As a teenager, Amelia took summer trips to Michigan to work with her Mom and her Brother, Manual. Amelia enjoyed going out with her cousins and friends. At age 29, she had gone out on a blind date but that night, GOD had other plans. That same night she met Francisco J. Gomez, our Dad. She agreed to go out with Francisco only because she thought he was a cop and she had unpaid tickets, but come to find out, Francisco was a Marine. That is a funny story our mom always told us.They fell deeply in love and were married on June 25, 1961, in Uvalde TX. They had a marriage full of love, joy, laughter and happiness. She loved to dance cumbias and slow dancing in the loving arms of her husband. Francisco absolutely adored her until the day he joined our Lord in Heaven on December 5, 1997.
Amelia was a stay-at-home Mom raising 4 kids. Her passion was sewing. She sewed clothes for all her kids for school. She also sewed the girls their prom dresses. She was also a beautician working from home. Women from all over would come to her house for haircuts and perms. On school days, she always had a station wagon filled with neighborhood kids who she drove to school every morning safely. Amelia was her kids biggest cheerleader. She would go to all their games with other moms. She would even call out the umpires and booing them when they made bad calls. In the evenings, she would have home cooked meals waiting for her family to get home.
Amelia really enjoyed her adventures with her Mom, Eliza, on their bus trips to Louisiana and Vegas. They had a blast gambling at the nickel machines and really loved their mother-daughter time together. She loved spending time with her grandkids going to their recitals and theme parks and other fun activities with family.
Amelia, Francisco and her son, Frank raised their grandson, Frankie. They encouraged the importance of a good education.
Amelia resided with her son, Frank who was her primary caregiver along with her daughters who came in the evenings and on weekends to care for her as well. She loved watching Murder She Wrote, Columbo, Elvis and Vicente Fernandez.
Amelia has been reunited in heaven with her husband, Francisco J. Gomez, her parents, Eliza Trevino and Isabel Reyes and brother Manual Carbajal and other family members that have gone before her.
Her memory will live on and forever remain with her Children, Gracie Gomez, Frank R. Gomez, Laura G. Lopez (Gonzalo), and Yvonne M. Sanchez (Rey); Grandchildren, Frank E. Gomez (Victoria), Allison N.
