Amelia H. Mendez

Amelia Hernandez Mendez, born June 12, 1930, went to be home with the Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the age of 94. Amelia was born in San Antonio. She was raised, lived, and remained in San Antonio till her death. Amelia was a lifelong homemaker and spent 3 years working as a Library Assistant at Arnold Elementary from 1969-1972. All remaining years were focused on being a supportive wife and Mom. Her interests were centered around the world of arts and crafts. She was constantly working on some sort of project, all the way up to a few months ago. It could be a wreath, a bird house, making jewelry, and had the incredible gift of growing the most beautiful plants from just a simple root. She loved her time outside and inside, making her home the best it could be. She was married to Jesse Mendez Jr., who passed in 2019, for 66 years. She is survived by daughter, Leticia (Litzie) Chapa and son, Louie Mendez (wife-Judy), granddaughters' Mariscela Beatrice Mendez, Monica Celeste Hearn (husband-Nathan) & Marciela Mercedes Chapa and great-grandchildren Mia Nova Hearn & Lexi Luna Hearn. Graveside services will be held at Cordi-Marian Cemetery (Resurrection Cemetery), 11624 Culebra Rd on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
