She was the daughter of Ira Edgar Odom and Verna Ruth (Kraske) Odom; the loving wife of 40 years to Mark Pearson; the proud mom to Eric Pearson (Regina) and Kelly (Pearson) Jones (Trevor); the devoted and fun Grammy to Judah, Emmett, and Luke Jones and Margot Pearson; the caring big sister to Ellen Odom and Alison (Odom) Adams (John); and the wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Amy was born a few days before Christmas in 1959 in Champaign, IL. She was the gift every parent treasures. A kinder soul would be hard to find.
While growing up in DeKalb, IL, Amy forged many deep friendships that continued well beyond graduation in 1978. Like her parents, Amy attended the University of Illinois and earned a degree in Foods and Nutrition in 1982. It is also where she met her husband, Mark. Amy and Mark were married on July 3, 1982, shortly after graduating.
Amys Christian faith was an essential part of her life. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio and enjoyed a close circle of bible study friends.
Amy loved to bring family and friends together and build wonderful memories for all. Her sense of adventure and love of travel led her to plan many trips for family and friends (and all were grateful for her ability to research and organize these trips down to the smallest of details).
Amy sought to aid and comfort those less fortunate than her through her many charitable efforts. Her organizational and creative talents were a blessing to any teacher, school, church, Chi Omega alumni group, or organization. Amy never forgot her roots and was a loyal supporter of both the DeKalb Barbs and the Fighting Illini.
Amy was preceded in death by her father, Ira Edgar Odom; her granddaughter, Madison Rose Pearson; her maternal grandparents, Ernest and Dorothy Kraske; and her paternal grandparents, Curtis and Stella Odom.
Her bright smile and big heart left us too soon, but we will remember her warmth, love, and generosity. The family would like to thank all of her friends, family and caregivers who offered help, love and support throughout her courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22 at 2:00 pm at Concordia Lutheran Church, 16801 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, TX.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift in Amys name to the Make-A-Wish Central and South Texas (1931 NW Military Hwy, Suite 210, San Antonio, TX 78213.
