Andres Aguilar was everything you could ask for in a big brother and even more, an incredible human being. My brother Andres had a way of being charming, caring, humble, competitive, and supportive all at once, with a smartass sense of humor that somehow always made everything better. Andres was the kind of person you could talk to about absolutely anything. What's even better is no matter the conversation, every call or text with him left me laughing. Even when we argued, it never lasted and somehow it always ended up with us laughing and later looking back on those moments with nothing but love.
Every memory I was lucky enough to share with Andres was made better simply because he was there. He had a presence that made people around him feel comfortable, heard, and valued.
Andres constantly kept reminding me that life isn't always easy, but it's always worth living in the moment, appreciating what you have, and finding humor even when things get tough.
Andres lives with heart, confidence, and authenticity, and he encouraged everyone around him whether he realized it or not to do the same. We were supposed to grow into the best uncles, stand beside each other as best men, and always remain best friends.
Losing him feels unreal, but I know that even though you're not here right now, you're still watching over me and will always have my back.
If there's one thing Andres taught me, it's how to love life, laugh often, stay humble, compete with passion, and always show up for the people you care about. I hope everyone who knew him carries a piece of that forward and lives a little more like Andres every day. I'm so proud of you brother, and I'll always be grateful for the time we had. I'm going to miss you more than ever man.
Love you, brother. Rest in peace,
Andres

Andres had a long-standing love of the ocean, marine life and conservation. While in San Diego, he regularly volunteered with the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation.
To honor his memory, we would ask for donations in lieu of flowers to The University of Texas Marine Science Institute (UTMSI). Their work carries his legacy and passion forward on the coast of Texas and is affiliated with his beloved University of Texas.
