Angelina Oviedo

Angelina worked in SAISD as a librarian assistant for 30 years prior to retiring in 2001. She then continued volunteering and helping out her daughter, who also taught in SAISD at Highland Park Elementary. Her HPE/SAISD family came to know "Momma O", as she was frequently called, as a dedicated, hardworking, dependable volunteer at book fairs, carnivals, or fund raising events. Numerous children, families and employees were greeted with her warm smile and friendly greeting. She was an avid reader, loved margaritas and traveling with her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ricardo Oviedo; her parents; siblings, Basilio Elizondo, Herminia Morales, Mary Rodriguez, Gabriel Elizondo, and Antonio Elizondo; and daughter-in-law, Beth Shellenberg. Angelina is survived by daughters, Angelica O. Cummins (Randy Blakey) and Graciela Oviedo; one grandchild; siblings, Lydia E. Oviedo and Esperanza Felan; long-time family friends Carol Phillipson and Charlotte Hughes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

There will be a recitation of the Rosary held for Angelina on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 7:00PM at Porter Loring Chapel on 1101 McCullough Ave.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 9:00AM in the Porter Loring Chapel, followed by interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
