Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse G. Barela, her parents, Antonio and Adela, her four brothers, one sister, and her second born daughter, Leonor.
Anita married the love of her life, Jesse G. Barela, in July of 1954 and together they built a beautiful family. She was a devoted mother to and survived by her children Bertha, Jesse III (Debra), Gilbert, Huby, and Anthony (Patricia), all of whom will carry forward her legacy of kindness and unconditional love.
Anita’s love extended beyond her immediate family to her cherished grandchildren: Matthew (Amanda), Jessica (Chaaz), Justin (Veronica), Sophie (Dylan), Victoria (Cesar), and Celia (Felipe). Anita’s heart grew even fuller with the joy brought to her by her 11 great-grandchildren, Joel, Noah, Jusai, Amelie, Beckett, Mila, Taylor, Everett, Nico, Jesse Ray, and Stella. She took great pride in their lives and always shared her wisdom and warmth with them. She is also survived by her sister Angelina Gonzalez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anita’s life was a testament to the values of family, compassion, and resilience. Her smile and hugs were a source of comfort, her advice was a beacon of wisdom, and her presence was a gift to all who knew her. She had a way of making everyone feel special and deeply loved.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and unity that will continue to inspire her family. Although she is no longer with us, we know she is reunited with the love of her life in Heaven and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
