Anna Belle Glenny (Simonton) 87 of San Antonio, Texas, entered peacefully into Eternal Rest with her Savior Jesus Christ on July 16, 2023. Ann was born in Dalhart, Texas on November 26, 1935. She was the daughter of Reverend O. Carl and Alma (Aebischer) Simonton.
Ann graduated from high school in Reydon, Oklahoma. She went on to earn her teaching degree from Arizona State University. Her first teaching job was in Riverside, California. With her teaching paycheck, she saved her money and purchased a wooden Chris-Craft ski boat. In Riverside she met the love of her life, a young Air Force pilot named Clinton Glenny.
Ann and Clinton were united in marriage on August 20, 1960 in Phoenix, Arizona. She then became an Air Force wife and dutifully assumed all that entailed. The Glenny family’s first assignment was in Warner Robins, Georgia, where her three children, Diana, Clinton and Clifford, were all born. In 1970, Clinton was deployed to Vietnam. At that time, Ann took her three babies and moved home to her family’s farm in Hollis, Oklahoma, so her children would be around family.
Ann was devoted to her husband and her children, as well as their families. She delighted in spending time with them. After moving more than a dozen times, including Taipei City, Taiwan, Ann and Clint’s final move was to San Antonio, Texas. In Texas, Ann took on a second career as a real estate agent. Eventually, Clint and Ann retired and built their dream home in Fair Oaks Ranch. Family gatherings, especially the holidays, were planned with great detail. “Nana” as her grandchildren called her, created special memories for all, including wonderful meals, dominoes, cards, golf, water skiing, Disney World, summers in Colorado, as well as birthdays and graduation trips to Europe. Clint and Ann traveled the world together, creating lifelong friendships and memories.
Ann is survived by her children Diana Rosas (Bobby), Clint (Susan), Sister Jean Bradley, four grandchildren Laura Stankich (Jacob), Tyler Rosas (Abigail), Morgan Halloran (Connor) and Holt Glenny. Four great-grandchildren Titus and Zeke Rosas, Elliott and Noelle Stankich. Two more great grandchildren are expected in July.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. O. Carl and Alma Simonton, sister Pat Norman, brother Dr. O. Carl Simonton, her beloved son Clifford and her husband of 56 years, Clinton Morgan Glenny. Ann’s life will be celebrated at a private family graveside service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
