Anne Poteet Munk was born December 23, 1936, to Anne Fae Waite Poteet and Dr. Ernest Haygood Poteet in Mercedes, Texas. She entered into the loving presence of her Lord and Savior on November 29, 2025.
Anne graduated from King High School in Kingsville, Texas. She attended SMU, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She graduated from Texas A&I with a BS degree in Vocational Home Economics and Education. Anne served as an out-of-town duchess representing the city of Kingsville in the 1959 Las Doñas de la Corte Buccaneer Days Coronation in Corpus Christi.
Anne married Henry Elton Munk on August 25, 1959, in Kingsville and was married for 55 years before his passing in 2014.
Anne worked as a Home Demonstration Agent in Carrizo Springs and then taught school in Pearsall for 33 years before retiring. In addition to her years in the classroom, she also owned a well-appointed fabric store and later, with a couple of friends, operated a tearoom during her summer breaks. Anne loved to cook and found great joy in the time spent entertaining friends around her table. After she retired, Anne taught the GED program in Pearsall, Bandera, and at the Lakehills library for a number of years before officially calling it quits. Anne was a life member of Texas State Teachers Association, a member of Texas Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the local Kendall County Retired Teachers Association.
Anne served on many civic and community organizations for youth and adults alike. She was a member of the Pearsall United Methodist church for 40 years and then a member of the Bandera Methodist church until her passing. She attended her Emmaus Walk back when the walk number was still in the single digits and served on many subsequent walks where she met numerous life-long friends. While living in Lakehills, Anne served on the Board of Directors for the Medina Lake Betterment Association (MLBA), and she & Henry were very involved in the annual Medina Lake Cajun Festival. Anne also served as the president of the Scenic Harbour Estates Property Owners Association (SHEPOA).
When she and Henry retired, they built a home in the hills overlooking Medina Lake in Lakehills, Texas. They enjoyed many evenings sitting on the porch swing watching God’s daily creation of the beautiful sunsets to the west. One of their favorite pastimes was dancing to the music of the Almost Patsy Cline Band. They were a site to behold and admire on any wooden dance floor in South Texas.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, June Poteet Landrum; her brother-in-law, Dr. C. Kenneth Landrum; and her loving husband and best friend, Henry.
She is survived by her son, Cameron, and his wife, Marion; her daughter, Missy Munk Stautzenberger, and her husband, Todd; and her beloved granddaughter, Hannah Stautzenberger. She is also survived by generations of nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart: Leslie Landrum Kingman (Tom), Mary Landrum Schuler (Lance), Taylor Kingman (Codi), Hunter Kingman (Shannon), Trent Kingman (Ashley), Berkley Kingman Anderson (Campbell), Brooke Schuler, Jordan Schuler (Rachael), as well as Kyle, June, Brynn, Russell, Walker, Charli, Palmer, Eleanor, Whitt, Merritt, Reese, and Emery.
