My beautiful friend, I can’t believe you’re gone. We have been in each other’s life since we were about 12 or 13 years old and got even closer our freshman year in high school. The beautiful memories I have of us will stay with me forever. You were my biggest cheerleader, going to every game and supporting our pep squad performances, the laughs we shared, the spring break trip we took our senior year of high school, the car rides on the weekends with the music blasting for everyone to hear and even in our “older” age we managed to have a few dinners and gatherings with childhood friends. Thank you for including me in some of your family celebrations. I promise to keep a smile on my face every time I think of you. You celebrated life so beautifully and that makes me happy. Arlette was my side kick when i worked for San Antonio Teachers Credit Union. We had the best time together. We laughed and goofed off most of the day. I enjoyed working there just because of her. We keep in contact with each other throughout the years via Facebook. My heart is so crushed with the loss of this vibrant person. She always had a smile in her face. Prayers to her husband and boys, and family.

Arlette was a very dear friend of mine!  We worked together for many years and our friendship always remained!  Every year on her birthday I would always send her a card with a notation about "strawberry cake".  Years ago, we worked together at the Credit Union and one year for her birthday, she asked me to bake her a strawberry shortcake.  It so happens that another employee at the Credit Union also liked strawberry cake and he and Arlette shared birthdays.  So, I was supposed to bake them a strawberry shortcake for their birthdays.  That's all Arlette talked about for days before their birthdays because she was really looking forward to her birthday cake.  Well, it so happens that Helen, who was our head teller decided to play a jjoke on Arlette and instead of a home baked strawberry cake, we brought her a store bought cake, using the excuse that I had not been able to bake her the cake.  The joke was that I indeed had baked her the strawberry cake but we were hiding it and we gave her the store bought cake instead.  Well, Arlette sat down and started to eat the store bought cake because she wanted to eat cake for her birthday!  Just as she was about to finish eating her slice of cake, we walked in with the home baked cake and yelled "surprise".  She could not believe that we had pulled a joke on her and between tears and laughter she kept yelling at us for pulling a prank on her.  Needless to say, she ate a slice of the home baked cake and everything was ok.  She was no llonger upset with us!  I can still remember that day!  Arlette and I shared many many good times together and I will always remember her kind deposition and her loving manner.  She was a true friend that will always be remembered and sadly missed!
