

Armando M. Gonzalez, M.D., born in Guerrero Tamps, Mexico on June 4, 1942 to the late Venancio Gonzalez Trevino and Elisa Vela de Gonzalez, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2011. Armando graduated medical school from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey. After completing his internship at St. Charles Hospital in Ohio, Armando and his family moved to San Antonio in 1969, where he served his residency at the Baptist Hospital, where he focused in pathology. He ran his own surgical pathology lab in San Antonio for 22 years as well as serving several hospitals in Bexar County. Armando was a man who loved to fish, hunt, and cook, especially at Christmas time with his grandchildren. He was compassionate in his service to others, and never expected anything in return. He was actively involved in his parish at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, especially in the Men’s Club. Armando is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Enelda Gonzalez; brother, Humberto J. Gonzalez; sisters, Maria Inez Gonzalez, Armandina I. Gutierrez, and Amada M. Gonzalez; children, Edgar A. Gonzalez and wife Louisa, Victor M. Gonzalez and wife Linda, Carmen E. Gonzalez and fiancé Aaron, and Francisco J. Gonzalez and wife Sara; 10 grandchildren as well as many other loving family members and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 5-9 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive San Antonio, Texas 78228 at 10 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2011. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
