

Marty was the son of the late Arnulfo Martinez and Alejandrina Ramirez. He was born in McAllen, Texas on May 25, 1941.
Marty was a member of McAllen High School class of 1962. He shared a great camaraderie with his former classmates and looked forward to their reunions. He attended San Antonio College where he majored as a paralegal assistant.
With dedicated patriotism and valor he served twenty years in the United States Army completing two tours as a helicopter and fixed wing pilot in the Republic of Vietnam in 1968 and 1970. Foreign posts served include Germany and Panama. He retired in San Antonio, Texas in 1979. Marty was known for his love of flying. He especially enjoyed flying fixed wing and helicopters and continued to do so beyond military retirement.
He was an avid Spurs fan and a dedicated season ticket holder for twenty years and a sponsor of the Spurs "Tux and Tennis" fundraiser. His generosity and love exceeded immediate and extended family, as he embraced and assisted anyone he met that was in need. Marty leaves a legacy of love, faith and family unity that every heart he touched will carry on.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnulfo Martinez and Alejandrina Ramirez and his daughter, Marty Yvonne Martinez.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Maria Irma Martinez, children, Maria Christina Bookhultz, Christine Robin Martinez, Steven Martinez, Joe Zamora, David Martinez and Marco Martinez, 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, His sisters Elizabeth Martinez Perkins, Margot Mallory, Mary Heninger, Joanne Krimmel and Debra Martinez; his brothers, Frank G. Mallory and Donald W. Mallory and 9 nephews and nieces.
