Born on April 30, 1953, Art was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas to parents Miguel and Manuela Torres. He was number four of ten children, with four sisters and five brothers. A loving and devoted son, he took care of his parents their whole life.
Originally from San Angelo, Texas, Art moved to San Antonio in 1997 where he lived and built his life until his passing. Art was an entrepreneur and self employed—a hard-working man of many talents and a business owner who built his life through determination, skill, and grit.
On September 26, 1993, Art married Mary Lou Torres, and together they shared 32 years of marriage. He was the heart of a blended family of five children: Steve Montemayor, Jr. (Angela) Torres, Mark Cajas, Erica Torres, and Nick (Corina) Cajas. He was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Meagan, Shawn, Kristopher, Mark, Adrian, Nina, Alexander, Aria, and EJ.
Art found joy in the simple, lively moments—golfing, playing pool, playing guitar, dancing, singing, and spending time with friends and family. He brought people together, and he made ordinary days feel like something worth celebrating.
He will be remembered for his smile, his loud laugh, and his green “hazel” eyes. Above all, Art loved his family more than anything, and he leaves behind a legacy of devotion and joy as an incredible and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
