

Arthur Lawrence Burgett Jr., known affectionately as Art, passed away on July 23, 2024, in Schertz, Texas, at the age of 94. Born on August 23, 1929, in Lorain, Ohio, Art was a devoted husband, father, and a proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces.
Art’s military career was marked by distinguished service across three branches. He began as an Apprentice Seaman in the US Navy in 1947, shortly transitioning to the US Army from 1947 to 1949. His most extended tenure was with the US Air Force from 1949 until his retirement in 1970. During his 22 years in the Air Force, Art's duties took him to numerous locations worldwide, enriching his life with experiences and stories he cherished and often shared.
After his military service, Art continued to serve his community through his work with the Parks Departments in San Francisco and Modesto, California. He also worked as a Dental Technician, applying the skills and discipline he learned in the military to his civilian career.
Art’s passion for travel never waned, and he filled his retirement years with trips that spanned the globe. His stories from his travels and tours of duty added depth and color to the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his daughters, Katherine Gail Burgett and Deborah Diane Abdullah (Joe), along with five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, and sister Betty Yates. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Bridget (McDermott) and Arthur L. Burgett Sr., his beloved wife, Helen Ruth Burgett, his son, Michael Ray Burgett, and his siblings, Robert A. Burgett, William Burgett, John Burgett, and Mary Anne Burgett.
