

Aubrey Lee Roberts, Jr., passed away on April 16, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas, ending 90 years of living life to the fullest. Aubrey was born in his familys home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on November 10, 1931. Life took many exciting and rewarding turns for him, as he met each day with gusto.
While pursuing his undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Aubrey served his country as Petty Officer First Class for four years. After his military service, he finished his undergraduate education at the University of Indiana where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1957. Choosing a career of service, he went on to earn his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas, Austin, in 1959. In 1960, Aubrey fathered his first child, Aubrey Roberts III, with his then wife, Patsy Roberts. As testament to his professional accomplishments, Aubrey was a member of Phi Alpha Delta, the preeminent law fraternity. He held memberships in the following professional organizations: Sweetwater Bar Association (president, 1969), the Houston Bar Association, the American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and City Commissioner of Sweetwater 1974-75. Aubrey was Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Aubrey Roberts was named as a Reputable Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell.
Aubrey Roberts legal career spanned over forty years. As a Board-Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, he began his long career opening a private law firm in Houston, Texas. Eventually, Aubrey became a partner in the law firm of Moore, Dickson, Roberts & Ratliff, Inc. in Sweetwater, Texas. There, he specialized in the fields of general civil practice, state and federal courts, banking, commercial, corporation, railroad, insurance, probate, real estate, oil and gas, and criminal law. His firm served clients throughout Texas. In retirement Aubrey and his family moved to San Antonio, Texas, in 2001 where his two young daughters could grow up surrounded by extended family.
Aubrey was a generous man. In his professional life, he contributed to the community by donating his time and services through pro bono legal work. In his personal life, he doted on his wife, Olga, and his children. His largess extended to welcoming family to his home for delicious meals he cooked, sharing his great humor, and his enthusiasm for every Texas sports team. His curiosity and zest for life made his retirement years as rich as his working years. Daily 9-18 holes of golf (often with his daughters Gracie or Abbie riding shotgun on his golf cart) capped off with a delicious meal he cooked with great care and love defined his retirement.
An energetic man, Aubrey lived an active lifestyle skiing, running marathons and golfing. He and his wife, Olga, enjoyed many adventures like skiing in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Italy. An avid and skilled golfer, his favorite courses to play were Pebble Beach (California) and The Old Course at St. Andrews (Scotland). He is greatly missed90 years did not feel like enough.
Aubrey is survived by his wife of 31 years, Olga Roman Roberts, as well as his children Aubrey Roberts III, Grace (Ben) Robinson, Abigail Roberts, and his grandchildren Aubrey Roberts IV, Alexandria Roberts, Ava Robinson and Riley Robinson. Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Lee Roberts, Sr.and Grace Cox Roberts, his sisters, Virginia Dunn and Geraldine Frew, and Patsy Roberts.
Aubrey Roberts Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary North with a reception following from 12:00-2:00. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
